Alexander Solzhenitsyn has a message for us today.

“A decline in courage may be the most striking feature which an outside observer notices in the West in our days.”

When Solzhenitsyn began his commencement speech to Harvard in 1978, he was greeted with cheers and great applause. By the time he was finished the assembled had filled the air with boos and jeers.

How could a man that endured so much suffering at the hands of Stalin and the communists say such things about the west?

The facts however are clear. Just as the great Russian dissident had foretold, the west in general and the United States in particular, has surrendered it’s authority to evil.

Evil thrives in the absence of real spirituality. The concept of humanism has become the new religion of the west.

With the rise of humanism comes increasing weakness and further loss of courage.

Alexander Solzhenitsyn spoke of politicians:

“A statesman who wants to achieve something important and highly constructive for his country has to move cautiously and even timidly. There are thousands of hasty and irresponsible critics around him; parliament and the press keep rebuffing him.

“Actually, an outstanding and particularly gifted person who has unusual and unexpected initiatives in mind hardly gets a chance to assert himself. From the very beginning, dozens of traps will be set out for him. Thus, mediocrity triumphs with the excuse of restrictions imposed by democracy.”

If one wished to describe the statement as prophetic as it relates to President Trump, such an assertion would be understandable.

Alexander Solzhenitsyn has harsh words for the media.

“What sort of responsibility does a journalist or a newspaper have to his readers, or to his history — or to history?

“If they have misled public opinion or the government by inaccurate information or wrong conclusions, do we know of any cases of public recognition and rectification of such mistakes by the same journalist or the same newspaper? It hardly ever happens because it would damage sales.

“A nation may be the victim of such a mistake, but the journalist usually always gets away with it. One may safely assume that he will start writing the opposite with renewed self-assurance.”

The present condition of spiritual exhaustion in the west leaves few options. The intelligentsia has determined that socialism is the answer. They believe the state to be so broken, that only they can fix it. The repair is found in socialism.

Alexander Solzhenitsyn is no stranger to living in such a state. His words of warning were spoken to deaf ears at Harvard.

“We watch this process in the past centuries and especially in the past decades, on a world scale as the situation becomes increasingly dramatic. Liberalism was inevitably displaced by radicalism; radicalism had to surrender to socialism; and socialism could never resist communism.”

Solzhenitsyn further told his audience that socialism does not end well for anybody.

In the west one need only look around to see the failures of such states.

To the radical, the illusion of a utopian society is easy to embrace. The radical however, truly believes they shall be the one in charge. It’s always easy when others bear the burdens.

The United States has reached the tipping point. Do the people give into the radical left and hope that it is better, or do they resist the evil that propels the nation to the cliff?

Maximilien Robespierre

Solzhenitsyn said, referring to the west, “There is a disaster, however, which has already been under way for quite some time. I am referring to the calamity of a despiritualized and irreligious humanistic consciousness.”

He should know. Born into a Christian Orthodox family, he was educated by communists. As a boy he easily turned from his spiritual roots to embrace atheism.

Eight hard years in the Gulag however, taught him that God does have a plan. That spirituality is vital to human existence. That to deny it will only cause the nation to repeat what has happened so many times before.

Stalin

The French revolution under Maximilien Robespierre saw thousands die. Many by execution for not following Robespierre’s edicts that included the elimination of all spirituality.

Lenin and Stalin killed some thirty million people in their evil desire to conquer the soul of Alexander Solzhenitsyn and millions of other Russians.

In China’s Cultural Revolution under Mao, it is estimated that as many as 20 million Chinese citizens died at the hands of the Red Army and Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

Mao

The death toll was minor compared to  Mao’s “Great Leap Forward”. More than 45 million Chinese were killed, by torture, brutality, and starvation in the four years of 1958 through 1962.

In 2020, the far left in America is systematically removing any reminder of American history or heritage. Their discourse is to turn all thinking away from a democratic society to one more aligned with totalitarian beliefs consistent with marxism.

The common denominator to all leftest revolutions includes desensitising religious beliefs, and eliminating spirituality.

There is an answer.

It lies in the courage of patriots, especially those in public office.

It lies in the hearts of patriots unwilling to sacrifice the gift of freedom God has granted the country.

It lies in the knowledge that radicals are actually weak, without any source of spiritual guidance to carry them through the hard fight of freedom.

It is time for American patriots to rise up, call upon their creator for help, and defeat the hate, violence, and evil of the left.

This is the moment. Now is the time.
