Are You Asking What If?

Are You Asking What If?

Do you ever do What ifs? What if this happens, or what if that happens?

I was tempted to do exactly that several days ago. To list ‘what ifs’. To speculate how I would react. What would I do?

About what, you ask?

What would I do if the President was not re-elected? On the day following the election, that possibility seemed all too likely.

I have never been ashamed to write about two beliefs: that Christ is my Lord, and that President Trump is the best choice for America in 2020.

Before the election, I prayed a lot. I prayed for America, I prayed for the president. I prayed ‘Thy will be done’. I know that God raises up and takes down who He chooses. I prayed that His will is to keep President Trump as the leader of the United States.

Like me, the President has flaws. There are parts of his past I’m sure he would like to do over. He has things in his personality that others find offensive.

I see a man who has enjoyed unprecedented success in multiple ventures. He then sacrificed the lifestyle and further success to serve the county.

To make America great again was more than a catchy slogan.

His goal has been to change the way business is done in Washington. To give the nation back to the people. He calls it, “Drain The Swamp.”

The idea of such changes actually occurring, sent fear and trembling into the hearts of a corrupt ruling class of politicians and those who serve them.

That however may not be the whole problem. Yes, corruption exists. Justice is not for all, and many at the highest levels of government are completely corrupted. In a different time, some would be charged with treason.

What if God does not like what America is doing?

During the Covid-19 lockdown, I did some reading. My wife and I read several books together, three of them written by Rabbi Jonathan Cahn.

Others describe the writings as a form of prophecy. Beginning with The Harbinger Rabbi Cahn, a Messianic Christian pastor, effectively makes the case that America is being judged by God. The judgement began on September 11, 2001.

The parallels of America and that of the nation of Israel more than 2,500 years ago are more than coincidence. The book is written as a story using actual dates and events, tying them to Scripture, all making the point that God’s judgement is on the nation.

It would be hard for a believer to reject the possibility that America is under judgement. That the fate of America is on a path like that of Israel before the destruction of Jerusalem at the hands of Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon.

Jonathan Cahn is a Christian pastor sounding the alarm. The warning began nineteen years ago. America has not repented for the sins of the nation, nor, like ancient Israel, has she returned to God as warned by the prophet Jeremiah.

It’s not my intent to recite all that Jonathan Cahn illustrates in his book and the two that followed. It is my intent to repeat the warning. America is under the judgement of God. The judgements are real.

It’s hard to think of what will happen if we don’t, as a nation, repent and return to God.

The sins of America are great. The greatest of them is abortion. Can a nation that has killed millions of their own children expect anything from God? Why would God allow such a thing to continue without regret or repentance?

If President Trump leaves office in January, there is little hope that a national turning away from the evil of abortion will happen. The United States will continue to grieve the heart of God. Judgement will continue, escalating until the nation ceases to exist.

If you have a what if question, let it be, what if God removes all His blessing from America?
