Everyone Needs to Be Praying This Psalm Everyday

Praying scripture is not complicated, and it is effective. God gave us His word. It makes sense that when we pray scripture, we are praying in accordance with what God has already said.

I pray Psalms 91. I know many believers who also pray this powerful Psalm.

As you read it, you’ll understand. You will see just what God wants for those who wish to be close to Him.

It tells us of the protections we can expect when we abide in “The Shadow of the Almighty”.

I accept the Word of God as absolute truth. When I stand in agreement with God’s Word, I am in agreement with God. And so will you.

Praying Psalm 91, you will never again have to pray, “Oh God, if it be your will, please protect my family today.” He has already told us in His Word that it is His will. Pray this Psalm.

I Have a Prelude

I nearly always begin this prayer by making reference to all for whom I am praying. I say something like this:

“Father, I decree this Psalm over my whole house. I am the patriarch of this family and I declare your Word for each of us, and for all of us.

“I pray this for me and for our children, and for their spouses.

“I pray this for my grandchildren and their parents. (this means I am included those who are divorced)

“I pray this for my brother, his wife, their children, and their spouses. I pray this for their grandchildren, and their parents.

“I pray this for my sisters and their husbands, and their children, and their spouses. I pray for their grandchild, their spouses and their parents.

“I pray this for my wife’s five brothers, their wives and their families.

“I pray this for their children, and their stepchildren, and their spouses and their parents.

“I pray this for the grandchildren, their spouses, their parents and the great-grandchildren, and their parents.”

Then I pray through the Psalm, reading the verses as I have marked them. I want it to be personal. This is for me, my family. Each of us. All of us.

Let’s Take Psalm 91 Verse By Verse

I use my favorite bible. The New Kings James Version, NKJV. How I do this is really simple and can be applied to any Bible version you might be using.

The Bible as written is in red. How I personalize the Psalm is highlighted in blue

Psalm 91

1. He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High
Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. 2. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.”

I’ll pray,

“Father, I pray that we all shall dwell in the secret place of the Most High, and we all shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. We shall say of God, He is our refuge and our fortress: Our God in Him we will trust.”

3. Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler
And from the perilous pestilence. 4. He shall cover you with His feathers,
And under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler.

“Surely God shall deliver us from the snare of the fowler and from perilous pestilence. God shall cover us with His feathers, and under His wings we shall take refuge. God’s truth shall be our shield and buckler.”

5. You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, Nor of the arrow that flies by day, 6. Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness,
Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.

“We shall not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrows that fly by day, nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.”

7. A thousand may fall at your side, And ten thousand at your right hand;
But it shall not come near you. 8. Only with your eyes shall you look,
And see the reward of the wicked.

“A thousand may fall at our side, and ten thousand at our right hand, but it shall not come near us. Only with our eyes shall we look and see the reward of the wicked.”

9. Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge, Even the Most High, your dwelling place, 10. No evil shall befall you, Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling; 11. For He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways. 12. In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone.13. You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra, The young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot.

“Because we have made the Lord who is our refuge, Even the Most High our dwelling place, no evil shall come near us, Nor shall any plague come near our habitation. God shall give His angels charge over us to keep us in all our ways. They shall bear us up in their hands lest we dash our foot against a stone. We shall tread upon the lion and the cobra, the young lion and the serpent we shall trample under our feet.”

14. Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him;
I will set him on high, because he has known My name. 15. He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble;
I will deliver him and honor him. 16. With long life I will satisfy him,
And show him My salvation.”

“Because they have set their love upon Me, I will deliver them sayeth God.”

“I will set them on high because they have known My name. They shall call upon Me and I will answer them, I will be with them in trouble, I will deliver them, and honor them. With long life I will satisfy them and I shall show them My salvation. Sayeth the Lord God of Heaven.”

Pray This Everyday For Yourself and Your Family

We are in perilous days. Speaking for myself, I have never seen so much evil in the world. There is an all out assault on mankind.

The powers, the principalities, and rulers of darkness are in the world and have declared war against humanity in general, and Christians in particular. Their stated agenda includes reducing the world population to around one billion people. That means more than six billion people need to die.

Declare this prayer as a hedge of protection. God is for us, and when we acknowledge Him with prayers like this, we can rest that many evils in the world will not come upon us.

Remember verse ten: ‘No evil shall befall you, nor shall any plague come near your dwelling.”

This Is Most Important

This is vital. you must accept Jesus as Lord. You must repent and receive His forgiveness for sin. He does it freely for all who ask with a pure heart. You have to mean it. If you have not made Jesus the Lord of your life, do it now.

None of us are perfect.

Only perfection can come into the presence of God.

All have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God. (Romans 3:23 NKJV)

We all have sin in our lives. That means all who have not repented for the sin in their lives can not see God, or be with God.

All who do not repent and accept Christ will be lost to eternal suffering in hell when they die.

There is Good News. Jesus died to pay the price for our sin. His crucifixion is the sacrifice that takes away the sin of the world. Salvation is a free gift, but you have to accept it.

You must be born again. Read my post on being Born Again. No one knows how much time they have left on earth. If you die without accepting Jesus as your lord and savior, you will not see heaven.
